During the editing stages of Greenmind, Safron wanted to sharpen his
filmmaking skills, so he began shooting an impromptu DV-work titled Blake
Poopler.
The film began simply as a bi-weekly exercise, following Jeremy Gottlieb,
through a quasi-documentary lifestyle as a bartender. Much of the work was
filmed at the popular Boston bar and grill, Christopher's and its
neighboring club, Toad. Other locales include Brooklyn, New York and Miami,
Florida.
Two years later, Safron had over twenty-five hours of DV footage and began
the arduous post-production process. Through the use of Final Cut Pro, After
Effects and Photoshop, he completed a fifty-four movie that premiered in
March of 2002 at the Boston Underground Film Festival.
Other screenings include the Back Alley Film Festival and the New York
Independent Film and Video Festival. Blake Poopler also received notice in
the Boston Globe.
